1. Scope of Application
Transportation of passengers and luggage on the scheduled services of Frankfurt Airport Shuttles (hereinafter called FAS) is underlying the German regulations concerning the general Terms and Conditions of transportation for streetcars, buses and motor vehicles (Verordnung über die Allgemeinen Beförderungsbedingungen für den Straßenbahn- und Omnibusverkehr sowie den Linienverkehr mit Kraftfahrzeugen (BefBedV).
In addition to or, if applicable, different from those regulations, these Special Terms and Conditions shall apply.
Busworld International GmbH (hereinafter called Busworld) is holding the concession for operating the FAS.
2. Tickets and Payment
2.1 Only passengers with a valid reservation/booking issued in their names and made for specific routes and times are entitled to transportation.
2.2 Transportation is subject to payment of the applicable fares.
2.3 If a passenger does not hold a valid reservation/booking, he has to make payment right away.
3.Validity, Rebooking and Reimbursement
Irrespective of the conditions shown on the ticket, in these Special Terms or the applicable fares, a ticket is valid for one year after date of purchase.
Online tickets are not refundable but remain valid for one year from the date of purchase. If you cannot use your ticket at the date you have chosen, you have the option of changing your ticket to another date free of charge.
3.2. FAS reserves the right to levy a cancellation fee for short-notice cancellations up to three days before departure for group bookings (10 passengers or more). This amounts to 50% of the fare price in the event of a cancellation within 48 hours of departure and 100% of the fare price in the event of a cancellation on the day of travel. The passenger has the right to provide proof that the FAS’s loss is less than this amount.
4. Timetables and restrictions on transport
4.1. Insignificant changes to the timetable which come into effect after contract conclusion
and which have not been implemented by FAS in bad faith, do not entitle the passenger
to raise claims for compensation. Variations of up to 120 minutes are deemed to be ‘insignificant’.
A significant timetable change entitles the passenger to withdraw from the transportation contract.
4.2. The passenger must be at the bus stop no later than 15 minutes before departure.
4.3. If the passenger does not appear on time or if the passenger cannot prove his/her booking or
provide proof of identity, FAS can refuse transportation. FAS has no liability towards the
passenger for damages or expenses which may result from the passenger´s failure to comply with
5. The passenger´s obligations
5.1. For their own safety passengers should remain seated during the journey and are obliged to
fasten their seat belts.
5.2. Instructions given by the driver must be strictly adhered to. The driver is authorized to refuse
transportation to any individual who is obviously under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The same
applies to passengers who, for other reasons, are endangering the safety of other passengers or
who are having a highly adverse impact on the comfort of the other passengers. In such cases
there is no right to alternative transportation.
5.3. Smoking and the consumption of food and beverages are not permitted on the bus. Mobile
phones shall be used in such a way as not to disturb other passengers and the driver.
5.4. FAS shall be entitled to demand payment of a cleaning charge of 50.00 EUR from passengers
deliberately and carelessly soiling the vehicle. This shall not apply, if the passenger proves that
damage did not occur or is substantially less. If the cleaning is verifiably more expensive, FAS can
demand a higher amount of compensation for the damage.
5.5. Clauses 3 and 4 of the BefBedV shall remain unaffected.
5.6. Departure time must be chosen in such a way as to reach the check-in counter at least 2 (two) hours prior to scheduled flight time departure. For any claims resulting from not observing this directive no liability will be assumed.
6. Transportation of children
6.1. The transportation of unaccompanied children under the age of 12 is not permitted. Unless
accompanied by a parent, children under the age of 12 may only travel when accompanied by a
person who is at least 18 years of age. The supervision of unaccompanied minors is absolutely
6.2. Infants up to a weight of 13kg or 18 months old, respectively have to be transported in suitable
safety seats required by law. This applies equally to toddlers up to approximately 18kg or the age
of 4. Children under the age of 12 and less than 150cm high, need a booster cushion.
Seat reservation/booking is also necessary for children under two years of age.
6.3. Safety seats and booster cushions will be made available at no extra cost or can be brought
7. Transportation of handicapped passengers
7.1. Please note that the vehicles are not fully accessible. It is not possible to safely assist a person with reduced mobility when boarding/getting off or during the transfer. Therefore, passengers must be able to board the bus and get to their seats independently or with the help of his assistant. If this should not be guaranteed, transportation will be declined for reasons of safety and liability. Wheelchairs can only be carried, if collapsible in order to be kept safely in the luggage
8. Transportation of baggage
8.1. Per person one piece of luggage (max. weight of 23 kg) and one piece of hand luggage (max.
weight of 8 kg) are free of charge. The hand luggage must not be larger than 50 x 30 x 20 cm to fit
into the luggage lockers.
8.2. Personal documents, medicine, valuables, mobile phones and laptops should be kept in the
passenger compartment. In addition to the piece of hand luggage, you may carry another piece of luggage (max. size of 30 x 40 x 10 cm, e.g. a hand-bag, a laptop case etc.). Per child a baby
carrier or a safety seat or a foldable pushchair/buggy is permitted (ref. 6.3. above). For wheelchairs/mobility aids ref. 7.1. above.
8.3. Pieces of luggage and larger items such as pushchairs/buggies or wheelchairs/larger mobility aids will only be transported in the luggage compartment. All items need to be properly packed to guarantee protection from soiling or damage.
8.4. Additional pieces of luggage, excess, special or bulky pieces of baggage will only be carried when booked in advance and confirmed by FAS. The applicable fees will be determined by the driver.
8.6. Baggage that does not meet the requirements of these Special Terms of Transport or does not
meet the safety requirements in accordance with clause 11 of the BefBedV can be excluded from transport.
9. Conveyance of Animals
9.1. Guide dogs will be carried on a vehicle without charge provided that FAS was notified at least
36 hours in advance and a written agreement from FAS has been received.
9.2. When carried in boxes, dogs or cats can be conveyed in the passenger compartment (max. box
size: 55 x 40 x 23 cm, box to be waterproof, bite proof; max. weight of animal + box: 8 kilos).
Conveyance of larger or heavier animals or boxes is possible neither in the passenger nor
in the luggage compartment.
9.3. Guide dogs and boxes (ref. 9.2. above) must be kept in front of your seat during the transfer.
Animals must not be conveyed on the seats.
In order to guarantee a safe journey and to avoid any incidents your pet must obey and not
disturb other passengers in whatever manner. Should this not be granted, your pet should be
wearing a muzzle. If deemed necessary, conveyance may be denied.
10. Conveyance of Goods
10.1 The conveyance of goods cannot be taken for granted. Hand luggage and other
items will only be conveyed when carried by a passenger and only unless they are
endangering other passengers or operations as a whole.
Conveyance is denied to any dangerous materials, such as
Explosives, highly flammable, radioactive, malodorous substances or acids
Any items without packaging that might cause injuries to other passengers
Items that do not fit into the luggage compartment
In order to prevent other passenger from being harmed the traveller is held to properly store all items and take care of them.
It is left to the driver´s discretion to allow or to deny the conveyance of goods and where to store them.
11.1 Liability is limited to the amount of the damage proven. FAS will only be liable for
indirect or consequential damages, if caused by gross negligence or deliberately.
FAS does not assume liability for impaired performance due to act of God or
unforeseeable events or incidents beyond control such as war or war-like acts,
hostilities, riots or civil wars, confiscation or obstruction by the government or other
persons, street blockades, measures of quarantine as well as strikes and any resulting
effects, for which FAS cannot be held responsible.
11.2. FAS is liable per claim for:
– damages to luggage up to a maximum amount of 1.000.00 EUR for each
piece of luggage and
– damages to items, which are not pieces of luggage, up to the amount of 1,000EUR per
passenger, as well as
– damage to wheelchairs and other mobility aids or auxiliary equipment up to the amount
of the replacement value or the repair costs of the equipment lost or damaged,
unless the damage has been caused by gross negligence or deliberately by FAS or
11.3. Deviations from the timetables due to traffic obstructions, operational defaults or
disruptions as well as the non-availability of seats do not give reason for any claims.
11.4. No liability will be assumed for errors or omissions in timetables or other publications of
schedules or for information from agents, employees or authorised representatives of FAS.
11.5. Moreover contractual liability is limited to three times the price of the bus journey
irrespective of the legal grounds. Liability for indirect or consequential damage is
11.6. Cost of alternative transportation due to significant delays or cancellation, will only be
refunded, if all reasonable efforts have been made to find the most favorable alternative
in terms of cost.
11.7. Luggage is to be examined for damage immediately after having been taken out of the
luggage compartment. If damage is discovered, this shall immediately be made known
to the driver. If discovered at a later date, the damage must to be reported in writing
within seven days after the date of travel. In this case it is mandatory to give proof of
the case of damage happened during transportation.
11.8. No liability is assumed for damage to or loss of breakable or perishable items,
valuables or identification papers contained in the passenger’s luggage that has been
handed over to be stored in the luggage compartment.
11.9. Should items (in the luggage) of a passenger cause damage to the luggage of another
passenger or to the property of FAS, that passenger has to reimburse FAS for any
resulting damage and expenditure.
11.10. No liability is assumed for items which are left on the bus.
11.11 In the event of FAS being obliged to arrange for a hotel room, the total cost shall be
limited to 80.00 EUR per night per passenger and to a maximum of 2 nights.
12.1 Any legal case arising from the contract of transportation shall be heard in Darmstadt/Germany.
